Enabling Google Analytics for Ecommerce
When setting up your online skincare store, you made sure you had a way of seeing if people were visiting your store or not and chose to go with the giant that is Google Analytics.
That was a smart choice.
However, Google Analytics can be overwhelming. It can be difficult to work out what you need to configure and where to look to see the data you need.
There are a few things you will want to check are switched on so you can get the most out of Google Analytics
Enabling Additional Features
Start by logging into your Google Analytics account.
First go to Admin > Property Settings.
Then check Property Name, Default URL and Default View match the values below (using your own store URL).
Next, scroll down and make sure Enable Demographics and Interest Reports and Use enhanced link attribution are checked.
Then scroll further and make sure Enable Users Metric in Reporting is checked.
After click on Adjust Search Console and make sure your Google Analytics is connected to your Google Search Console account.
Pick your domain name and click Save. If you don’t have a Google Search Console account, you can set one up at https://search.google.com.
Next navigate to Admin > Ecommerce Settings.
Make sure you Enable Ecommerce and click Save.
Once all this is setup. You will want to go and visit your online skincare store to make sure everything is working and you can see if people are visiting your site.
While you are on your site
go back into Google Analytics and click on Real-Time > Overview and make sure you can see 1 person viewing the store.
That person is you!
Now you know the visits are being recorded.
Now you have confirmed that people are visiting your store and that Google Analytics will track how people will browse and buy from your online skincare store.
Viewing Your Ecommerce Report
Now that you have gone through this setup and configuration process this will make available the out of the box Ecommerce report available in Google Analytics
Navigate to: Conversion > Ecommerce > Overview.
Select the last complete calendar month in the date picker, and compare it to the previous period.
